HD remakes are absolutely everywhere nowadays, the games companies are cashing in on nostalgia and for the most part it’s good (exception of Mario’s 1,000,000th remake with Wii Functionality…). With Metal Gear Solid, Zone of the Enders and Silent Hill getting remakes from the Konami camp, I thought I’d delve into five games from the past that I feel deserve hi-definition updates to bring them back into gamers lives.

Well personally, I think it’s high time for a good old-fashioned whinge. Afterall, it’s what us Brits do best isn’t it? The ability to take something completely innocent, something which we could easily avoid with little to no effort whatsoever and then…TALK THE HIND LEGS OFF A DONKEY REGARDING THE SUBJECT. With little to no concern for the poor mule in question, we prattle on with all the coherence of that man who’s always standing there smoking outside your local pub, irritating the utter hell out of everyone who leaves or enters. “Talking bollocks”, as it’s affectionately known in this dear country, is a fun pastime which really does seem to take up the majority of the working week. Before you know it, it’s the weekend and it’s time to have some fun – all before heading back into the ‘office’ on Monday to pick up where you left off.

It’s probably one of the weirdest sensations known to gamers, yet probably one of the most thrilling. Those incredible moments where you feel that old familiar chill run up your spine at a million miles a minute while you grip the control pad as if your very life depends on it. The action on your TV screen certainly has a hold on you, the player, and isn’t going to let go anytime soon. As frightened as you are, you feel – rather oddly – that you just cannot get enough.

Make no mistake about it, those and such as those who work tirelessly to ensure you have that brand spanking new copy of “Modern Warfare 2” on time deserve a hell of a lot of credit. The argument could be made to say computer game developers are rivalling the world of art in terms of the love they put into their work.
